Pastor Jerry and Sis Tina Kazee

Bro. Jerry Kazee and Sis. Tina had known each other for many years, as their churches—Shadeville Holiness Church and The Flatwoods Pentecostal Tabernacle—fellowshipped together regularly. Both were saved at young ages and raised in church. They were married on August 13, 1988. Four months later, Bro. Jerry accepted the call to preach the Gospel at the age of 18.

Their first child, a son, Jared, was born in September 1989. In January 1990, they moved to Flatwoods, Kentucky, and attended Sis. Tina’s home church, The Flatwoods Pentecostal Tabernacle. Under the leadership of Pastor Bennie Grizzle and Bro. Lloyd Bailey, the Lord began molding their lives for ministry. Two more children were born in Kentucky: Gabriel in February 1993 and Tanya in July 1994.

After seven years away from home, the Lord began to deal with Bro. Jerry that it was time to return. In January 1998, they moved back to Columbus, Ohio, and Shadeville. During this time, Bro. Jerry shared with his childhood pastor, Bro. Mike Nichols, the burden he felt to serve as youth leader at Shadeville. Bro. Mike prayed with him concerning God’s will, as the church was in need of a youth leader. One night during a service, the Holy Ghost spoke and confirmed that it was God’s will for Bro. Jerry to serve in that role.

At Shadeville, their pastoral journey truly began. Over the next 22 years, they served faithfully in many capacities, including youth leaders, Sunday school teachers, deacons, and assistant pastor. During this time, the Lord opened doors for them to preach and form lasting relationships with many pastors and evangelists.

In August 2017, Bro. Mike Nichols, the founder and pastor of Shadeville for 37 years, went home to be with the Lord. The church voted Bro. Jerry and Sis. Tina in as pastors. In November 2025, Shadeville will celebrate 45 years since its establishment, and Bro. Jerry remains only its second pastor. May the Lord grant them many more blessed years of service.
